We cannot say enough kind words regarding Maford House Cafe and the owner Whitney. If we could have eaten here breakfast, lunch and dinner, we probably would have. She’s open for breakfast and lunch so make sure to eat here! We had fish and chips, burgers, and breakfast burrito, OJ and Corona beer over a few days while we were in Portsmouth Dominica. All dishes were amazing!!! Loved this place!

Maford House, the hospitality of Whitney, the food and venue could not have been more lovely. We were visiting Portsmouth by boat and pulled our dinghy up on the beach behind Maford House. The garden seating area provided great views and the food made all three of us happy! I had the magnificent buffalo chicken wrap, but tasted the fish and chips and Caribbean chicken wrap and all were delicious and flavorful. Whitney even makes her own mayonnaise. The beers were cold. The freshly baked raisin rolls were excellent for breakfast the next morning too. So glad to have had this lunch experience in Portsmouth.

Great spot in town for food. One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time and the owner is lovely. The back patio is a perfect little escape for a nice quiet lunch looking over the bay. And get the Pointe Baptiste Chocolate m. So so good.

Colorful place in downtown Portsmouth! Whitney is a beautiful person. Extremely welcoming! I have been missing my family, and she absolutely lifted my spirits. The veggie quesadilla made me feel like I was eating a bit of home. Had her caramel homemade cheesecake! delicious! (Sorry, I ate it too fast to get a picture. ) I highly suggest you visit her place if visiting this side of the island. I can't wait to come back and try her fish and chips!

I just love the Maford House Cafe. The food is high quality, fresh and made to order. The staff is friendly and couretsy. The facility is clean and well maintained. Sitting in the Beer Garden on the water was a fantstic experience. The bread is baked fresh and do leave room for the cheese cake

A great dining experience thanks to Whitney Sommers owner, cook, host, and a one woman class act. Very warm and welcoming establishment. The food was wonderful, we ordered fish and chips, the breading was light and the fish was moist and flaky, platter was served with Whitney’s homemade tartar sauce and some ketchup. The food was perfect amount of food for a reasonable price. The menu of the day is out side, you order inside, and then enjoy the “ beer garden” with picnic tables and a most gorgeous view of the bay. The eating area is surrounded by lovely greenery, and some roaming roosters/hens. Whitney was a very nice woman who takes pride in her establishment, and her customers appreciate that. While here we will be visiting Maford House Cafe again. Whitney also bakes homemade breads and other items on Monday…excited to get some goodies

We enjoyed several mid day meals prepared by Whitney a Canadian local who shared lovely conversation and island stories as well. Fish and chips, buffalo chicken burger and very nice cheese cakes! All hot and delicious! A very nice ginger “Indian River”. BBQ sauce! Thanks, Whitney… and “woof” Ask’em blonde boy dog!
